01.01COVERAGE / HOMEHow many security cameras does a private home actually need?

There is no correct number in advance. Map entrances, approach, parking, garden and blind spots, then define the purpose of each view: deterrence, identification or movement recording. Only then select quantity, position and lens. The goal is useful evidence during an event, not filling the property with cameras or recording areas that do not need coverage.

01.02WIRED / WIRELESSWired or wireless cameras: which is better at home?

Wireless can suit an isolated point, but a permanent system is often more stable on wired PoE infrastructure. One cable carries data and power, reduces reliance on Wi‑Fi quality and makes faults easier to diagnose. The right choice depends on cable routes, existing preparation and what must continue working over time.

01.03MOBILE / RECORDINGCan I view cameras on my phone, and how long are recordings kept?

Yes. With secure configuration, live and recorded video can be viewed away from home. Retention depends on camera count, image quality, recording schedule and storage. Handover should include personal users and permissions, a tested remote connection and a demonstration of event search.

01.04POWER / CONTINUITYWhat happens when internet or power fails?

Internet is generally required for remote viewing, while local recording can continue if cameras, recorder and power are designed for it. Continuity is a decision to make before installation, not something to discover during an incident.

01.05INTERCOM / ENTRYWhich intercom fits a home, and can an old unit be upgraded without major construction?

Start with the entry journey: door or gate, residents, code or credential, video call, phone opening and the existing lock. Existing cabling can sometimes be reused; other sites need new data or power. An inspection allows a minimal option to be compared with a future-ready route without promising compatibility before seeing the site.

01.06HOME NETWORK / WIFIWhy add network points when the house already has Wi‑Fi?

Stable wireless service often starts with the right wired backbone. A network point can stabilise a workstation, television, camera, intercom or access point and avoid improvised repeaters and dead zones. Points are planned around real devices, rooms and cable routes, including how the installation can be maintained later.
